We had the amazing opportunity to view the Alaska oil pipeline on our trip home from Delta Junction. It's wild to realize how long the pipeline stretches for (800 miles!) and the shear fact that it works! Over half of the pipeline is above ground and virtually unsecured, to boot!
These are heaters for the pipeline that runs underground beneath the road. These heaters use some fancy technology (too hard and too boring for me to try to 'splain here...lol...yeah, like I could) to heat the frozen soil which eventually heats the pipe.

I was just telling Matthew about the Alaska Pipeline...well, kinda. lol. Gas is $3.16 a gallon here and going up daily. He asked me why gas prices changed so quickly. LYTB!
